        I did run into something similar with my IPX, and this is what I did to
boot 3.0 (I didn't have time to mess with netboot):

I had a SCSI Zip drives attached to the IPX and to a Linux box (makes for
easy /etc backups in a pinch).  

1.  I dd'd the floppy3.0fs image to a zipdisk.

2.  Placed the disk in the drive and did a boot /sbus/esp/sd@5,0

That was it.  It loaded.

I've been meaning to try it with various tape drives  Can't see why it
wouldn't work.
