Hello everybody,
I've got a quick question. I was having similar problems a couple
of months ago and asked, but the suggestions given didn't help me at
that time. Since then, I've moved to Idaho and am not getting back to
this problem. I thought that I'd hosed up my X stuff beyond
recongnition so I just dumped the box and re-installed 3.0 -release.
Now, what happens is as follows:
1) from prompt type % xf86cfg
2) the X server starts fine
3) I'm brought to the screen where PC appears with a mouse, keyboard and
video card attached to it, with the monitor attached to the video card
4) the screen blacks out, then reappears back to the "blank" X screen
with a mouse indicator and the window described above NEVER reappears
So, what is causing this? The only thing I've been able to think of
thus far is it's not able to initialize fonts properly. The reason for
this is, there are a couple of lines on the output of tty01 that
meantion something about being unable to initialize font such and such.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
