greets all. went through the faq's and all kinds of random stuff found on
the net, etc, but couldn't find a solution.
have been having a somewhat documented problem running 2.8 on a
sparcstation 1+. seems that this has been a problem before, so i went
through and verified my memory was properly installed and working. found a
problem with how my simms were installed, corrected it, and everything
checked out (i.e. no more errors with test-memory). thought my troubles
were over, but i still get the panics.
anyways, it's a sparcstation 1+ with 32Mb of ram (8 4mb simms in banks 0
and 2), with no framebuffer, serial console. was curious as to whether the
patch for zs might have something to do with this? couldn't find much
documentation on the patch. also, can't keep the machine up long enough to
get the src and try the zs patch myself (which probably has nothing to do
with this, but i noticed it does have something to do with running a
serial console).
so, anyways, the question boils down to a) does the zs patch have anything
to do with pv_unlink panics and b) if not, any suggestions?
thanks in advance.
p.s. if the zs patch _does_ have something to do with this i'll buy
someone a beer or six if they make me a kernel. can't get too far into a
build of anything before it panics. :)
