Wrong. You can run java2 now, though don't run it on a production system.
Currently there is a blackdown linux port of java2 1.2pre2 in the ports
tree, which requires the redhat_base emulation system (also in ports).
It is likely that a more recent linux version will be entered into the ports
system as an interim solution, and discussion is underway to re-orient
development on a native version from 1.2.x to 1.3, now that 1.3 sources are
available in something more than windows form.
